The Prestige was an oil tanker that suffered an accident in november 2002, in front of Galician coast. This tanker was shipping 75000 tones of oil. After some days trying to go away of the coast, it finally sunk 250 kilometers away.
The oil spill was the higher environmental disasten in the long list of Spain's senvironmental disasters. The spill polluted all Galicia's west coast. Galicia have a rich fishing industry, that was damaged for a long period of thime. The cost of the disposal of the oil spilled was 12 billion dollars.
Today, the galician coast is clear and our beaches are in good conditions to enjoy of the one rich gastronomy and green landscapes.
